About Eugene R. Kumpula

Eugene R. Kumpula was born and raised on a small farm in Northern Minnesota, where life in the 1940s was shaped by hard work, strong family ties, and the quiet rhythms of the land. There was no electricity, no modern conveniences—just early mornings, long days, and a way of life that called for responsibility from a very young age. To Eugene and his siblings, it wasn’t unusual—it was simply life.

Growing up, the days were filled with chores and expectations, but they were also filled with something else—laughter, imagination, and the kind of harmless mischief that naturally finds its way into childhood. What might seem like a difficult life by today’s standards was, in many ways, rich beyond measure. The warmth of family, the closeness of home, and the simple joys of everyday moments left a lasting impression that would stay with him for a lifetime.

It wasn’t until much later in life, at the age of 80, that Eugene began writing these stories down. His children had given him Storyworth as a way to capture and preserve his life experiences. As he began reflecting and writing, something unexpected happened—his grandchildren became especially drawn to the stories of life on the farm. They leaned in, asked questions, and wanted to hear more.

Encouraged by their interest, Eugene continued writing—not just to document his life, but to share those moments that might otherwise be forgotten. What began as a personal project quickly grew into a collection of stories that resonate far beyond his own family.

Through his writing, Eugene invites readers into a different time—one without the distractions of modern life, where work was hard, days were full, and joy was often found in the simplest things. His stories are a reminder that while times have changed, the values of family, resilience, and finding happiness in everyday moments remain timeless.

Today, his books serve as a bridge between generations—offering a glimpse into a way of life many have never known, while helping families reconnect with stories that are meant to be shared, remembered, and passed down.
